Auris Uneven Idling

Alright, petrolheads, listen up! My 2013 Toyota Auris with a gasoline engine is giving me headaches. I've got this weird uneven idling thing happening, and the error memory is screaming about something. I'm guessing it's the engine mount? I wiggled some wires, thinking maybe it's just a loose connection, and now I'm pulling my hair out! What do you guys reckon?

Summary of the thread

A 2013 Toyota Auris is experiencing uneven idling, with error codes suggesting a potential issue with the engine mount. The problem may be caused by a defective plug connection or engine mount wear, which can disrupt signals and affect the engine management system. The recommended solution is to have the vehicle checked at a workshop, where the defective connection can be identified and repaired, as confirmed by a similar case with a Peugeot.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Sounds rough! I had a similar issue with my old Peugeot 308. Rough idling and error codes galore. Turned out to be a dodgy engine mount connection, just like you're suspecting. Was the error code specific at all? Like, did it point to a particular sensor or anything?

That's interesting! Thanks for the quick reply. The error code was vague something about 'Engine Mounting Bracket Defective'. I'm no mechanic, but could mount wear really cause the idling to go bonkers? And how would a defective plug connection trigger all this?

Yep, mount wear can definitely cause that. The vibrations throw everything off. As for the connector, if it's corroded or loose, it interrupts the signal and messes with the engine management system. I'd say get it checked at a workshop; probably something they can fix easily. Turned out to be the best course of action for my Peugeot.

Cheers! I appreciate the advice! I took it to the shop like you suggested, and you were spot on. Defective plug connection on the engine mount, just as we suspected. They replaced the part, total damage was only 95€ a win in my book!
