Avalon engine stalls fuel composition error
Summary of the thread
A 2002 Toyota Avalon experienced engine stalling and a check engine light due to a fuel composition error. The issue was suspected to be related to fuel quality or the fuel filter, but a suggestion was made to check the cable and plug connections to the fuel sensor. Upon inspection, a defective cable connection was identified as the cause, and fixing it resolved the problem.

Interesting! When you say the cable and plug connections, are you talking about the ones going to the fuel sensor itself? And where exactly is that located? I'm not the most mechanically inclined, so any specific pointers would be a huge help. Also, what error code were you getting?

Yeah, those are the ones. It's a pain to get to, honestly. But before you tear everything apart, maybe just wiggle the connections a bit and see if anything changes. If that doesn't work and you're not comfortable messing with it, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. I ended up doing that, and they said it was a defective connection causing a bad reading.

Thanks a lot for the suggestion! I checked the cable and plug connections, gave them a wiggle, and no change. Took it to my local mechanic, turns out it was exactly as you said – a defective cable connection. They charged me 95€ to fix it. Runs perfectly now! Really appreciate you pointing me in the right direction!

Dude, that sounds frustrating! I've got an Avalon too, and I had a similar issue a while back. The engine light, the stalling... it was driving me nuts. Did you check the cable and plug connections to the fuel sensor? That was my problem.
