Avalon engine start stall issue

Hey, I have a 2005 Toyota Avalon with a gasoline engine. Lately, it's been having some issues. Sometimes the engine won't start when I turn the key, and other times it just shuts off while I'm driving. Once, it even started running really rough. I checked the dashboard lights, and they seem normal. Anyone else experienced this?

Sounds frustrating. I'm no expert, but have you checked the fuses? Maybe there's a defective fuse related to the ignition switch. It might be a simple fix. Does the starter motor even engage when it fails to start, or is it completely dead?

Good call on the fuses. I'll check those. But where exactly is the fuse for the ignition switch located? And yeah, sometimes the starter motor doesn't even try to turn over. Total silence.

Okay, if the starter motor is silent sometimes, that could point to the ignition switch itself being faulty, or maybe a wiring issue. I'm not sure exactly where the fuse is on your model, but the car's manual should show it. Honestly, with intermittent starting and stalling, it might be best to get a professional to take a look. They can diagnose it properly.

Thanks for the advice. I checked the fuses, and they seemed fine. Ended up taking it to a workshop; turned out it was a faulty fuse. Cost me 52€ to replace. Appreciate the help!
