Avalon key fob battery issue

I own a 2012 Toyota Avalon with a gasoline engine. Recently, the key battery low warning appeared. Keyless access no longer works, an error is stored, and unlocking/locking aren't functioning correctly. I suspect the key fob battery is empty. Has anyone experienced a similar issue?

I have an Avalon too, and had similar symptoms a while back. The key fob was acting up – sometimes it would work, sometimes it wouldn't. Did the range suddenly decrease?
