Avancier Belt Handover Problem
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Honda Avancier owner reported issues with the belt handover not functioning properly, suspecting a defect in the belt bringer/handover. Another individual with a similar problem suggested that the tensioner pulley might be the cause, as it affects the timing belt's tension. The advice led to the discovery of a defective belt tensioner, confirming the initial suspicion and providing a solution to the problem.

Thanks for the quick reply. Did your symptoms match what I'm seeing? Were there any other signs?

Yes, definitely. The main symptom was engine noise, especially at lower RPMs. I'd get it checked out soon because if the timing belt slips, it could cause serious engine damage. My local shop diagnosed the defective belt bringer/handover. The repair cost me around 455€.

Thanks for confirming and for the advice. I had the car inspected, and the belt tensioner was indeed defective. Your experience was really helpful.

I had a similar problem with my Avancier. The belt drive was making a racket, and it turned out to be the tensioner pulley. If the handover isn't working correctly, the tensioner might not be doing its job. The timing belt needs to be kept at the correct tension.
