Avantime AC Failure

My 2003 Renault Avantime with a gasoline engine has an AC system that's stopped working. No cooling at all, and it doesn't engage when activated. I suspect a problem with the valves. Anyone else had this?

Sounds familiar! I had almost the same problem with my Avantime a while back. Check for refrigerant leaks first – that’s an easy one. But if the AC relay is clicking, it’s probably something deeper. Did you check the AC compressor clutch?

I haven't checked the compressor clutch thoroughly yet. Can you tell me more about your experience? Were the symptoms the same, and what was the cause?

Yep, symptoms were spot on, no cooling at all. Honestly, I messed around with it for a bit, but in the end, I took it to a workshop. Turned out to be a faulty valve, and they had to refill the refrigerant too. Saved me a lot of headaches!

Thanks. I'll take it to a workshop for diagnostics and repair. I'm expecting to pay around 1000€ for valve replacement and refrigerant.
