Avantime Air Suspension Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2002 Renault Avantime with a diesel engine experienced an air suspension fault, causing the car to lean and display error messages. The diagnostic tool indicated an air suspension compressor fault, but the issue was suspected to be a dodgy cable or plug connection. After checking and cleaning the wiring and plug connection, the problem was resolved, restoring the ride height and eliminating error messages without needing a new compressor.

Good call on the relay and fuse. I'll check those. When your compressor failed, did you notice any specific sounds? Did you try troubleshooting before replacing it, or just swap it out?

I didn't notice any unusual noises, it just failed. I considered rebuilding the compressor, but repair kit availability seemed spotty, and time is money. I took it to a workshop, they diagnosed the compressor. The defective cable/plug connection caused a cost of 95€. If you’re not confident with electrics, maybe a workshop is a good idea.

Thanks for the info. I checked the wiring and plug connection, cleaned it, and the issue is gone. Ride height restored and no more error messages! I saved money and a new compressor. Thanks!

Sounds familiar. I have an Avantime and had similar symptoms. Error messages, leaning, the whole thing. The air suspension compressor was the problem. Before replacing parts, have you checked the compressor relay and the fuse? Those are easy to test.
