Avantime Cruise Control Failure

My 2002 Renault Avantime with a gasoline engine has cruise control problems. It doesn't engage at all, and I'm getting an error code. I've checked fuses and the brake pedal switch. Could it be the throttle position or a speed sensor? Anyone else experienced this?

Sounds familiar! I had a similar cruise control issue with my Avantime. I fiddled with the connections under the steering wheel and near the pedals. One of the plugs seemed loose. Did you check those connections thoroughly? Any other electrical oddities lately?

Thanks for the tip! Were those connections under the steering wheel difficult to access? Did you have to remove trim pieces? Did your error code point to anything specific, or was it just a generic cruise control fault?

Accessing those connections was a bit of a fiddle. I think I had to pop off a small trim piece. If I were you, I'd take it to a workshop, especially if you're not confident. I paid around 95€; they said a cable or plug connection was defective. Could save you time and frustration!
