Avantime diesel power loss
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Renault Avantime diesel is experiencing power loss, increased fuel consumption, and stalling, accompanied by a check engine light and unusual noises during acceleration. The suspected cause is a boost pressure issue, potentially related to the wastegate valve. The recommended solution is to have a professional workshop inspect and repair the wastegate valve, which resolved the problem and restored the vehicle's performance.

Thanks for the reply! Where exactly is the pressure sensor located, and how would I go about checking it? Is it a visual inspection or something more involved?

Okay, I am not a professional, but I'd strongly suggest you take it to a workshop. Based on your description, and my previous experience, my issue was in fact, also in the wastegate valve, and is crucial for controlling the boost pressure of the turbocharger. Trying to DIY it might cause more damages.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. I took it to the shop, and you were right. It was a defect in the wastegate valve, and the whole thing cost me 860€ to repair. At least it's running properly again!

Interesting. I had something similar happen with my Avantime. Symptoms were a bit alike, mainly the reduced power and the noise. Have you checked the pressure sensor? Could be throwing off the whole system.
