Avantime GPS Antenna Fault

Hi, I've got a 2001 Renault Avantime with a gasoline engine, and the GPS has stopped working. The navigation system says there's no GPS reception, and the error memory confirms a GPS antenna problem. I suspect the antenna itself is faulty. Has anyone had a similar issue?

Summary of the thread

A 2001 Renault Avantime owner is experiencing a GPS reception issue, with the navigation system indicating a GPS antenna fault. The problem is suspected to be a faulty antenna. A fellow Avantime owner suggests checking the antenna cable connection, as it might be loose, but ultimately recommends professional inspection and replacement if necessary, as they had a similar issue resolved at a workshop.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hey, I drive an Avantime too, and I had the exact same problem a while back. No GPS signal, error code pointing to the antenna. Did you try checking the antenna cable connection? Maybe it's just loose.

Good shout, I'll check the connection. Where exactly is the antenna located on the Avantime? Is it easy to access?

On mine, the antenna is on the roof, towards the back. You can get to it from inside, near the rear interior light. Honestly, I wouldn’t mess with it too much. I ended up taking mine to a workshop; they confirmed the antenna was dead and replaced it. Cost about 200€.

Thanks for the info! Sounds like I'm heading to the workshop as well. Appreciate the help!
