Avantime handsfree microphone failure

That sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my old Saab 9-3. Voice recognition failed, and it was a problem with the audio input circuit board. Does the Avantime's system use an external microphone, or is it integrated? Have you checked the microphone connections?

It's all integrated, as far as I can tell. No external mic. Where should I look for these microphone connections? Are they buried in the head unit?

In my case, it was within the head unit, which made things difficult. Given that it's all integrated in your Avantime, I'd say it's likely a deeper issue. I'm guessing it's time to book it into a workshop.

I feared as much. Appreciate the input. The workshop confirmed the infotainment system was faulty. The repair cost 815€, but at least I can take calls again.
