Avantime Headlight Washer Failure

Alright Avantime buddies, I'm tearing my hair out! My 2003 Renault Avantime (diesel engine, naturally) is playing up. 166354 km on the clock. The headlight cleaning system has packed it in. And now the windshield washer isn't working either! I've checked the fuse, seems fine. Anyone had this before? Is it a clogged hose or something more sinister? I'm dreading a trip to the garage...

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my Avantime. The headlight cleaning pump is a common weak spot. Check the cable connections to the pump and the relay. Could be a corroded connection or a broken wire. That killed my whole washer system too!

Cheers for the quick reply! Where exactly is the relay located? And is it a pain to get to? Don't want to start ripping the car apart if I can avoid it. Any tips on checking the cable connections?

Honestly, it's been a while, but I think it's near the pump itself, tucked away in the wheel arch. Not the easiest spot to get to, I recall. If you're not comfortable fiddling with it, a garage might be the best bet. Saved me a lot of swearing!

Thanks a bunch! I took it to the workshop. Turns out it was a faulty connection, just like you said! New connector and all is well again. Cost me 165€, but at least I can see again! Cheers for pointing me in the right direction.
