Avantime Oil Temperature Warning Light
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Renault Avantime owner experienced an issue with the engine oil temperature warning light and oil pressure lamp activating intermittently. The problem was traced to a fault stored in the error memory related to the oil temperature sensor, suspected to be caused by a dodgy cable or plug. After consulting with others who had similar issues, the owner took the car to a workshop where a faulty engine oil temperature sensor and corroded cable were identified and resolved.

Yeah, it's intermittent. The light comes and goes. Where exactly was the problem on your car? Was it the sensor itself or the wiring?

Mine was similar, flickering on and off. I'm no mechanic, but I wiggled some wires and it stopped for a while, then came back. Ended up taking it to a workshop. They sorted it, but I'm not sure exactly what they did. Worth getting it checked out professionally.

Thanks for the advice! Took it to a shop; turns out it was a faulty engine oil temperature sensor, just like I suspected. Cable was a bit corroded too. They replaced the sensor and cleaned up the connection. Cost me 95€, but at least it's fixed!

Whoa, sounds familiar! I had something like that on my Avantime. Is it intermittent, like a loose connection somewhere? It's like when your TV signal cuts out because the cable's not in properly. Have you checked the sensor itself?
