Avantime Overheating
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Renault Avantime with a diesel engine is experiencing overheating issues, with the temperature gauge rising rapidly. The suspected cause is the electric fan not activating, possibly due to a faulty connection. A similar issue was resolved by checking the radiator fan cable and plug connection, leading to a workshop repair that confirmed a faulty connection, resolving the overheating problem.

Completely dead, as far as I can tell. No sound, no movement. Where exactly should I be looking for the cable and plug? Is it easy to get to, or am I going to be wrestling with a bunch of other stuff to reach it?

Yep, sounds like the same problem I had. Cable or plug connection is likely your culprit. Honestly, I wouldn't mess with it too much. Took it to a workshop. Quick fix.

Cheers for the advice. Workshop it is then. Just got it back – faulty connection indeed. 95€ later and she's running cool again. Thanks!

Overheating Avantime, eh? Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Avantime. Check the radiator fan cable and plug connection. Is the fan even trying to spin, or is it completely dead?
