Avantime Software Gremlins

I own a 2001 Renault Avantime with a gasoline engine and I'm experiencing a perplexing software issue. My Avantime has 58894 km. There's a persistent error code, general electrical malfunctions, and a non-functional navigation system. Diagnostics suggest the control unit programming is implausible. I'm expecting a 240€ repair. Has anyone else encountered similar software gremlins?

Sounds awfully familiar! I had something similar happen with my Avantime – felt like living in the Stone Age when the nav system died. All sorts of weird electrical quirks started popping up, too. Is it like, the car is possessed and doing its own thing? Did you already try a hard reset – disconnecting the battery for a while? That sometimes clears up glitches.

I did attempt a hard reset by disconnecting the battery for about an hour, but the issues persist. The electrical malfunctions remain, and the navigation system refuses to cooperate. Could you elaborate on the specific electrical quirks you experienced? Comparing notes might illuminate the situation.

Yeah, disconnecting the battery was my first thought too, but didn't help in the long run. I remember my windows acting up, sometimes refusing to close properly, or the radio going mute randomly. It was like living with a poltergeist. Honestly, I think the best course of action is getting it hooked up to Renault's diagnostic tools at a workshop to see exactly what's going on with the control module's programming.

I understand. Your description of the electrical quirks, especially the window and radio issues, resonates strongly. It seems likely that a professional diagnosis and reprogramming of the control unit is the most prudent course of action. I shall schedule an appointment with a Renault specialist. Your analogy of a "poltergeist" certainly encapsulates the frustration! I'll report back with the resolution.
