Avantime Tailgate Hall Sensor Error

Hello, I have a 2002 Renault Avantime with a diesel engine. The tailgate doesn't open completely, and there's an error stored regarding the tailgate hall sensor. I suspect a defective cable or plug connection. Mileage is at 137751 km. Any ideas?

I had a similar issue with my old BMW 5 series. The error pointed towards a faulty sensor wiring. Have you checked the sensor wiring and plug connection?

I did check, but visually. Is there a way to test the hall sensor wiring more thoroughly?

Unfortunately not that I know of. Given the symptoms and error code, and the fact that a visual inspection didn't reveal anything, I'd suggest letting a workshop take a look. Could be a defective hall sensor.

Thanks for the advice. I went to the workshop. Turns out it was indeed a defective hall sensor wiring. Repair cost 95€
