Avantime transmission issue
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Renault Avantime diesel is experiencing transmission issues, with the transmission indicator and check engine lights on, and is stuck in emergency mode. The problem is suspected to be related to a radiator oil pressure issue, possibly due to a defective cable or plug. A similar case suggested that the issue might be a faulty pressure sensor or wiring in the cooling system circuit. The problem was resolved by fixing a faulty connection, costing 95€.

No overheating or leaks that I've noticed. Just the transmission going haywire and the error code. What was the fix for your Avantime's issue?

Given the symptoms and error code, it does sound like the same problem I encountered. I strongly recommend taking it to a workshop. It's likely a faulty pressure sensor or wiring issue in the cooling system circuit, but diagnosing it properly requires specialized equipment.

Thanks for the advice. Turns out it was a faulty connection as suspected. 95€ later, all sorted.

I had a similar experience with my Avantime. The symptoms sound very familiar. Was the car overheating at all, or did you notice any coolant leaks?
