Avantime Turbo Issues
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Renault Avantime owner is experiencing issues with the check engine light, jerking during acceleration, a whistling/hissing noise, stalling, increased fuel consumption, and reduced power. The suspected cause is a bad boost pressure sensor connection, potentially related to the turbocharger or a boost leak. Another owner with similar symptoms suggests checking the pressure sensor, and the issue is resolved by replacing the faulty boost pressure sensor connection.

When you say similar symptoms, do you mean all of them? The jerking and stalling are really throwing me off. Do you recall how you diagnosed the problem? I'm hoping the boost pressure sensor is the issue, but I'm worried there might be something more serious at play. Any recommendations?

Yeah, pretty much all of them. Jerking was noticeable, and sometimes it did stall. I wasn't able to figure it out myself, so I just took it to a workshop. They sorted it pretty quick, so it couldn't have been too bad I guess.

I appreciate your help! I will visit the workshop to have it checked. Turns out it was a faulty boost pressure sensor connection as I suspected. They replaced the plug and wiring and I ended up paying 95€ for the repair. Thanks again for sharing your experience!

Hmm, sounds familiar. I have an Avantime too. Similar symptoms cropped up for me a while back – whistling, hissing, power loss. I'd check the pressure sensor like you said. Could be something simple.
