Avensis AC failure
Summary of the thread
The 2014 Toyota Avensis has an AC system that stopped cooling and won't switch on, suspected to be due to a valve issue. A similar problem was experienced by another owner, who suggested checking the blower motor and refrigerant for leaks. The solution involved AC diagnostics and repair, which revealed a faulty valve as the cause.

Thanks! When yours failed, did the AC system still try to kick on, or was it totally dead like mine?

Totally dead. No click, no fan change, nada. I was sweating like crazy. Best bet is to swing by a workshop for AC diagnostics, could be multiple things really. Turned out to be some faulty valve which cost me a fortune!

Roger that. Appreciate the insight. Sounds like I'm in for a similar repair bill. Thanks!

I had something similar with my Avensis, though I can't remember the exact year. One day, bam, no cold air. Check the blower motor and whether it's a refrigerant leak. A simple AC maintenance might do the trick, but I'd also get the cooling system checked asap.
