Avensis brake lights not working
Summary of the thread
The brake lights on a 2015 Toyota Avensis were not functioning, and an error was displayed on the dashboard. Despite the bulbs being intact, the issue was suspected to be with the brake light switch. After consulting the vehicle's repair manual and visiting a workshop, it was confirmed that the brake light switch was indeed faulty. The workshop resolved the issue, and the brake lights are now operational.

Thanks for the quick reply. I haven't taken the switch out yet. Where exactly is it located, and is there anything specific I should look for besides obvious damage to the connector?

The switch is usually located near the brake pedal assembly. I recommend consulting the vehicle's repair manual for the exact location and removal procedure. However, without proper diagnostic tools, it might be challenging to confirm if the switch is faulty or if there's another issue in the brake system. I would recommend visiting a workshop.

Thanks for the advice. It turned out that the brake light switch was faulty. I followed the repair manual, took it to the workshop and they fixed it for nothing because it was an user error. Brake lights are working perfectly now.

I had a similar issue with my Avensis. Sounds like it could be the brake light switch indeed. Have you checked the switch itself for any physical damage or loose connections?
