Avensis central locking failure

Central locking failed on my 2000 Toyota Avensis diesel. None of the doors lock/unlock with the fob or interior switch. OBD2 scanner shows an error code. Fuses are good, but I suspect a defective cable or plug. Anyone experienced this?

I had a similar issue, not on a Toyota though. It was a broken wire in the door loom where the wires flex. Have you checked the wiring going into the doors, especially the driver's door? Is it all doors or just one or two?

I visually inspected the wiring looms and didn't see any breaks, but I'll look closer at the driver's side. It's affecting all doors, including the boot. Would a broken wire in one door disable the entire system?

Given it's all doors, a single broken wire is less likely, though possible. If the fuse is good and all doors are affected, and you're getting an error code, it points to a central control unit or main wiring harness problem. Get it checked by a professional; they have the tools and it may save time and damage.

I took your advice and brought it to a workshop. You were right; it was a defective cable connection. The diagnostic and repair cost 95€.
