Avensis cruise control failure

My 2005 Toyota Avensis, gasoline engine, with 142090 km has a cruise control that's stopped working. The dashboard light doesn't come on, and the error memory reports a fault. I suspect the cable or plug connection. Has anyone had similar issues? I've considered the speed sensor, fuse box, and pedal switch.

Interesting. I had a similar cruise control issue with my Avensis some time ago. Before diving too deep, have you checked the clock spring? It's a common culprit when electrical systems in the steering wheel act up. Does your horn still work?

That's insightful. I hadn't considered the clock spring. The horn works fine, which made me dismiss it. What symptoms did you experience that made you think it was the clock spring?

My horn was intermittent, and the airbag light flickered occasionally with the cruise control failing. Since your horn is working fine, it's less likely to be the clock spring, but not impossible. Considering you have a stored error code, visiting a workshop with diagnostic equipment is probably your best bet to pinpoint the issue.

Thanks for the advice. Based on that and the error code, I consulted a technician. The diagnosis confirmed a defective connection in the cruise control wiring. The repair was 95€.
