Summary of the thread
A 2007 Toyota Avensis with 80,000 km developed a misfire, indicated by a check engine light, rough running, and jerking during acceleration. The initial suspicion was a faulty injector. After consulting a mechanic, the issue was confirmed to be a defective fuel injector, which was replaced, resolving the problem.

Thanks for the reply! Fuel consumption seems normal, but I haven't really checked it thoroughly. Was your issue definitely the injectors, or could it be something else like an ignition coil?

In my case, the diagnostic pointed to a defective fuel injector. While an ignition coil could certainly cause misfires, the combination of symptoms you've described leans towards the fuel delivery system. I strongly suggest consulting a qualified mechanic for a proper diagnosis. I ended up taking it to a workshop and they replaced the injector. Be aware that these repairs can be quite costly.

Appreciate the advice. Took it to the shop, and you were spot on – faulty injector. New injector fitted, cost me 515€. Runs like a charm now, thanks again!

I drive an Avensis as well, and I encountered a similar problem not too long ago. The symptoms you described – rough idle, jerking, and the check engine light – resonate with my experience. I had significant issues with my throttle response as well. Did you notice any change in your fuel consumption?
