Avensis Parking Aid Failure
Summary of the thread
The parking aid on a 2009 Toyota Avensis diesel was not functioning, displaying a 'Parking assistant without function' message and storing an error in the memory. The issue could have been due to a defective cable or plug connection. A suggestion was made to check the radar sensors for dirt or misalignment, but ultimately, a workshop inspection revealed a defective connection, which was repaired.

Where are the radar sensors located? Also, do you remember what the error code was when you experienced this?

The sensors are usually in the rear bumper. Unfortunately, I don't recall the exact error code. Given your error and the symptoms, it's best to have a workshop inspect the wiring. It could be a simple fix, like a loose connection, but it's better to be sure.

Thanks for the advice. The workshop identified a defective connection and repaired it, as suggested. The final bill was 95€ Much appreciated!

I had a similar parking assist problem with my Avensis. Have you checked the radar sensors? Sometimes they get dirty or misaligned, which can cause similar errors. It's like when a satellite dish loses signal because of bad weather.
