Avensis turn signal fault

I'm having trouble with the turn signal lamp on my 2003 Toyota Avensis diesel. There's an error stored and a message on the speedometer about a lighting fault. I'm thinking it's a bad cable or plug. Anyone seen this before?

Oh man, I know this one! I had nearly the same thing with my Avensis. The blinker was throwing codes and the dash was lit up like a Christmas tree. I initially suspected a broken lens. Did you check the bulb itself and the connector for corrosion? These cars are notorious for electrical gremlins.

Thanks for the input. When you mention electrical gremlins, was the cable or plug connection the problem in your case too?

Yeah, after chasing my tail for hours, it turned out to be a corroded connector in the turn signal housing. I tried cleaning it myself but eventually had to concede and take it to a workshop. Honestly, with these electrical problems, sometimes it's best to let a pro handle it.

Thanks for the help. I'm going to get it professionally diagnosed and repaired, as suggested. Got a quote for 95€ including parts and labor.
