Aveo crankcase ventilation issue
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Chevrolet Aveo with a diesel engine is experiencing issues such as the check engine light being on, reduced engine power, and smoke during acceleration. An OBD reader indicates a malfunction in the crankcase ventilation valve. This valve's failure can lead to increased emissions and poor engine performance. The recommended solution is to have the valve inspected and repaired at a workshop to prevent further engine damage.

Thanks for the info. Was your Astra showing the same symptoms, specifically the smoke? And what was the fix? I'm trying to gauge how urgent this is.

Yes, the Astra had similar symptoms, including smoke during acceleration and a noticeable drop in power. Given the mileage and symptoms, I'd strongly suggest a visit to a workshop for a proper diagnosis and repair. Continuing to drive with a faulty crankcase ventilation valve can lead to further engine damage.

Took the Aveo to the workshop, and you were spot on. The crankcase ventilation valve was defective. Repair cost me 360€. Thanks for the advice!

I had a similar issue with my 2016 Opel Astra, which also has a diesel engine. Crankcase ventilation, or PCV, is a system that removes gases from the crankcase, which is the space around the crankshaft. These gases, if not removed, can build pressure and cause issues. The valve regulates this process. If it fails, you might see the symptoms you describe, including increased emissions and poor idle.
