Aveo exhaust leak
Summary of the thread
The 2010 Chevrolet Aveo diesel experienced a check engine light, power loss, and increased fuel consumption. An OBD reader indicated a faulty exhaust temperature sensor. A possible cause was identified as an exhaust leak near the sensor, which could lead to incorrect temperature readings. The solution involved checking for leaks and replacing both the sensor and repairing the leak, resulting in restored vehicle performance.

Thanks! A leak? I haven't specifically checked for hissing, but I'll definitely have a listen tomorrow. Whereabouts in the exhaust system did you have the leak, if you don't mind me asking?

Well, I didn't find the leak myself. I took it to a workshop after messing about for a while and they sorted it. From what they told me, the leak was near the temperature sensor itself. Because of the leak the sensor was reporting weird exhaust temperatures. They replaced the sensor at the same time, just to be sure. Probably best to get it checked out properly if you're not sure.

You were spot on! Took it to the garage, and they found a small leak in the exhaust near the sensor, just like you said. The exhaust temperature sensor was also faulty because of it. They replaced both, and it cost me 265€. Runs like a dream now! Thanks for the advice, you saved me a ton of time!

I had a similar issue with my Aveo. Same symptoms: check engine light, power loss, and fuel consumption went nuts. I also got an error code pointing towards something in the exhaust. Did you check for any hissing sounds coming from the exhaust system? It could be a leak.
