Aveo Mirror Heating Fault

My 2013 Chevrolet Aveo diesel, with 128062 km, has a fault with the mirror heating. Both are non-functional. Error memory shows a fault code related to the heating circuit. I suspect a broken wire or loose connector at the mirror. Has anyone else experienced similar issues, and what was the root cause?

Summary of the thread

A 2013 Chevrolet Aveo diesel had a fault with non-functional mirror heating, indicated by a fault code related to the heating circuit. The suspected causes included a broken wire or loose connector at the mirror. A similar issue in another vehicle was resolved by addressing a corroded connector inside the mirror housing. Following this advice, the problem was confirmed to be a corroded connector, which was replaced by a workshop, resolving the issue.

Interesting. I had a similar problem with my old BMW. The heated mirrors stopped working, and it turned out to be a corroded connector inside the mirror housing. Did you check the voltage at the mirror connector itself? Maybe there's no power getting to the heating element.

That's a good point. I haven't checked the voltage at the connector yet, but that's the next logical step. Was the corroded connector on your BMW obvious, or did you have to dig around to find it? And was it just a cleaning job, or did you need to replace the connector?

It wasn't immediately obvious, no. I had to take the mirror apart to get to it. Cleaning it helped temporarily, but the corrosion returned quickly. Ultimately, I ended up replacing the connector. Honestly, given the hassle, it might be worth just having a workshop take a look. 95€ seems reasonable for a quick fix. Is your time worth more than that?

Thanks for the insight! I appreciate you sharing your experience with your BMW. I took your advice and brought it to the shop. Turns out it was indeed a corroded connector, just like you suspected. They replaced it, cleared the fault code, and the mirrors are working again. Cost me exactly 95€. Problem solved!
