Aygo Active Hood Fault Airbag Warning

My 2006 Toyota Aygo diesel with 155304 km is showing an "Active hood fault" message, and the airbag warning lamp is on. The code reader shows an error related to the active hood system, and the spring actuators seem to have triggered. Could a bad acceleration sensor be the cause?

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my old Renault Megane. Same warnings, active safety system going haywire. Have you checked the wiring harness and connections to the impact sensors? On my Megane, corrosion caused phantom errors.

Interesting! Corrosion is always a pain. Where were the impact sensors located on your Megane? I'm trying to figure out where to start looking on the Aygo. Also, did your spring actuators actually deploy?

The impact sensors were behind the front bumper, near the headlights. Worth a check. Luckily, the actuators on mine didn't deploy! Sounds like yours might need replacing. I ended up taking mine to a workshop, it was beyond my skillset.

Thanks! Your advice was spot on. After checking the sensor, I brought it to my mechanic. It was indeed a defective acceleration sensor and some corroded wiring. The repair cost me 315€, including parts and labour. Hopefully, this info will help others!
