Aygo check engine light and stalling

My 2006 Toyota Aygo diesel (62338 km) has an intermittent check engine light and stalls at idle. I suspect a fuel tank ventilation leak, maybe the charcoal filter? Could it be the purge valve?

I had similar Aygo problems: check engine light, stalling. It was a ventilation issue related to the EVAP system. Any unusual hissing near the fuel tank, especially after long drives? What's your fuel efficiency like?

Thanks! I haven't heard hissing. Can you be more specific about the 'ventilation issue'? Was it the charcoal filter, or something else in the EVAP system, like the leak detection pump?

For me, error codes pointed to fuel tank ventilation due to the charcoal filter. A smoke test could pinpoint the leak, but replacing the charcoal filter usually fixes it. A workshop can diagnose and fix it quickly if you're not comfortable doing it yourself.

Thanks for the insight! A workshop confirmed a defective activated charcoal filter in the fuel tank ventilation system. Repair cost: 275€. The car runs smoothly now.
