Aygo Diesel Stalling Idle Low Power
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Toyota Aygo diesel was experiencing stalling at idle, an illuminated engine light, and reduced power. The initial suspicion was a fault code related to the fuel pressure regulator, especially after a recent fuel filter change. Another individual with similar symptoms suggested checking the fuel pump relay, pressure sensor, and fuel rail. Ultimately, a professional diagnosis confirmed the issue was with the fuel pressure regulator, and replacing it resolved the problem.

Could you elaborate on which specific symptoms your Aygo exhibited, and if there were any other related problems? I am trying to determine if our issues align closely enough.

The stalling at idle was definitely the most consistent symptom, along with the engine light. The reduced power was most noticeable when going uphill. I initially suspected the fuel pump, but my local workshop traced it back to the fuel pressure regulator. Given your error entry after changing the fuel filter, I would strongly suggest having it professionally diagnosed.

Thanks, I visited a local workshop, and they confirmed it was indeed the fuel pressure regulator, which has been replaced and fixed the issue. The repair cost was 45€. Your insights were invaluable.

I had very similar symptoms with my Aygo: rough idle, engine light, and a noticeable drop in performance. Have you checked the fuel pump relay and pressure sensor? Could also be a dirty fuel rail or reduced fuel efficiency. Look at those before assuming the worst.
