Aygo exhaust flap issue
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Toyota Aygo owner is experiencing issues with the exhaust system, specifically suspecting a defective exhaust flap due to louder exhaust noise and engine noise after cold starts. The symptoms and error codes suggest a failing exhaust flap motor, a common issue in Aygos. The recommended solution is to visit a workshop for confirmation and replacement, which the owner did, resolving the issue.

Yes, the noise seems to originate from the rear. And yes, the increased noise after starting diminishes somewhat as the engine warms. What does that signify?

Those symptoms, along with the error code, strongly suggest the exhaust flap motor is failing. Replacement is probably the best course of action. It's a common issue on these Aygos. I'd recommend a workshop visit to confirm and get it sorted. It is not something you can easily fix yourself.

Thank you for your input. I took it to a workshop, and it was indeed the exhaust flap. They replaced it for 190€.

Loud exhaust and error codes definitely point to the exhaust flap system. Those flaps get gunked up over time and the motor that controls them fails. Does the noise seem to be coming from the rear of the car? And, when the engine is noisy after a cold start, does it subside after a short while?
