Aygo exhaust flap issue

I own a 2009 Toyota Aygo with a gasoline engine. I'm experiencing issues with what I believe are the exhaust flaps. The error memory contains a relevant error, the exhaust noise is louder than usual, and the engine is unusually noisy after cold starts. The car has 84315 km on the clock. Is this possibly a defective exhaust flap?

Loud exhaust and error codes definitely point to the exhaust flap system. Those flaps get gunked up over time and the motor that controls them fails. Does the noise seem to be coming from the rear of the car? And, when the engine is noisy after a cold start, does it subside after a short while?

Yes, the noise seems to originate from the rear. And yes, the increased noise after starting diminishes somewhat as the engine warms. What does that signify?

Those symptoms, along with the error code, strongly suggest the exhaust flap motor is failing. Replacement is probably the best course of action. It's a common issue on these Aygos. I'd recommend a workshop visit to confirm and get it sorted. It is not something you can easily fix yourself.

Thank you for your input. I took it to a workshop, and it was indeed the exhaust flap. They replaced it for 190€.
