Aygo intake air temperature sensor issue

My 2007 Toyota Aygo diesel has a check engine light, reduced power, and rough running at 44711 km. A diagnostic tool shows a faulty intake air temperature sensor. Could this sensor be the cause?

Whoa, sounds like a pain! If that sensor is indeed busted, the engine's computer is probably getting wonky temperature readings. That messes with the air-fuel mix, hence the rough running and power loss. Did your diagnostic tool give you any actual temperature readings from the sensor? If it's way off, like showing -40 when it's clearly warmer, then yeah, sensor's toast.

My diagnostic tool is basic and doesn't provide live temperature data. Is there a way to confirm the sensor's malfunction without advanced equipment?

Without live data, it's tricky to be 100% sure. But, if you've got the code and the symptoms match, it's highly likely. Honestly, for something like this, I’d bite the bullet and take it to a workshop. They have the proper gear to pinpoint it. Could save you time and money in the long run!

I took it to a workshop, and they confirmed the intake air temperature sensor was faulty. The repair cost 155€, including parts and labor. The car is now running smoothly. Thanks for your assistance.
