Aygo Overheating and Communication Error

My 2006 Toyota Aygo diesel is overheating, the check engine light is on, and there's a coolant leak, indicating excessive pressure. A diagnostic check shows a control unit communication error. Could a defective cable or plug connection cause all this? Anyone experienced something similar?

Sounds rough! I had almost the same thing happen with my old Renault Megane: engine overheating, warning lights. A communication fault? Was it showing any specific diagnostic trouble codes?

Yeah, it threw a code related to the control module losing connection. Did your Megane have similar diagnostic codes? What was the actual fix?

Mine was flagging a faulty sensor, but the root cause was a dodgy connector. I'd bet yours is the same. Honestly, with those symptoms, I'd take it to a workshop and let them trace the wiring. Save yourself the headache!

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a local garage, and you were spot on. It was indeed a corroded connector causing the communication fault. They cleaned it up and replaced a short section of the wiring harness. Total cost was 95€. Running like a champ again!
