Aygo poor starting fuel consumption

No, the engine light hasn't come on. If it is the injection nozzles, is it something I could potentially clean myself, or is it best left to a professional?

Okay, the engine light not being on is interesting, but it doesn't rule out dirty injectors. As for cleaning them yourself, there are DIY methods involving fuel additives, but honestly, with fuel injection systems being quite sensitive, I'd personally recommend taking it to a workshop. When it happened to me, the light did not come on, and I took it to a professional, and they found out it was the nozzles. They can properly diagnose the issue and clean or replace the injectors as needed. It cost me around 515€ to get it sorted, so be prepared for that sort of cost. Best to get it checked before you cause any further damage!

Thanks a lot for the advice and sharing your experience! I think I'll book it in with a local workshop to get it checked out properly. It's good to have an idea of the potential cost beforehand too. Hopefully, it's just a cleaning job, but at least I know what to expect.

I had similar problems with my Aygo. The symptoms you describe - poor starting, higher fuel consumption, rough idling - really ring a bell. It could well be the injection nozzles. If it gets dirty, it won't spray the fuel correctly, leading to all sorts of issues. It's like trying to water your garden with a hose that's partially blocked. You get uneven water flow, right? Same principle! Was the engine light on?
