B Klasse tailgate hall sensor fault

My 2022 Mercedes B Klasse hybrid is showing a tailgate hall sensor fault error The tailgate only opens partially The error memory mentions a defective cable or plug Has this happened to anyone else Could this be sensor wiring or is the power tailgate failing

Sounds familiar I had a similar issue with my B Klasse, though I don't remember the exact error code The power tailgate would act up, sometimes not opening fully, sometimes refusing to close For me, it turned out to be a dodgy connection in the sensor wiring Did you check the wiring harness where it goes into the tailgate That's where mine was acting up It's a common spot for wear and tear It might be worth a peek before you go any further

Thanks for the tip Where exactly is the hall sensor located And when you say 'dodgy connection', what did it look like Was it visibly damaged, or did you have to test it with a multimeter Also, is it difficult to get to the tailgate motor

The hall sensor is usually integrated into the tailgate motor assembly itself, so you'll need to access that area When I said 'dodgy connection', I meant the plug connector itself looked corroded and a little loose I wiggled the connector, and the problem went away for a while, which confirmed the diagnosis I didn't mess with it too much, I just took it to the shop, because I don't have the right tools to test the wiring Since the error memory already points to the cable or plug, I'd say just take it to a Mercedes workshop They can easily test the sensor wiring and replace the tailgate motor if needed

You were spot on I took it to the workshop, and it was indeed a faulty connection in the sensor wiring They cleaned it up and secured it properly The error is gone, and the tailgate works like new The final bill was 95€ Thanks a bunch for the advice
