Bad Crankshaft Sensor? Infiniti M Stalling & Starting Issues

Hey there. Having issues with my 2007 Infiniti M (gas). Car's running rough with multiple symptoms: stalling, hard starts when cold, power loss, and sometimes won't start at all. Check engine is lit up too. I suspect it might be the crankshaft sensor. Has anyone dealt with similar symptoms and got it fixed? What was your repair experience and cost like? Any feedback would help before I head to the shop.

Hey! I've had some experience working on cars , and I actually dealt with a similar issue on my 2005 Infiniti G35 last year. The symptoms were almost identical to what you're describing. After it left me stranded twice, I took it to my regular workshop. Turned out the crankshaft sensor's wiring harness was damaged connector was corroded and wires were frayed. Got it fixed for around 170 Euro, and the car's been running perfectly since then. What's your car's mileage? Also, are there any specific error codes showing up? This info would help confirm if we're dealing with the same problem. Just a heads up Infinitis from that era can have these sensor wiring issues. If it's the same problem, it's a pretty straightforward fix at a reliable shop.

Thanks! My car's at 224699 KM and had its last service about 2 months ago. Haven't checked the error codes yet, but I'll grab my 's scanner tomorrow to check. Really helpful to hear about your similar experience gives me hope it won't break the bank! Did your car also have that weird stuttering when you tried to accelerate? Just trying to compare symptoms before I take it in.

Hey again! Yeah, absolutely my G35 had that exact same stuttering/hesitation during acceleration. It was super annoying, especially when trying to merge onto highways. It would just feel like the car couldn't make up its mind whether to go or not, you know? And speaking of your mileage (224699 KM), that's actually pretty close to where mine was when I had the issue I was around 210000 KM. These VQ engines are generally solid, but the sensors and wiring can start showing their age around this mileage. When my car was acting up, it was throwing a P0335 code (Crankshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction). Definitely let us know what codes you get when you scan it tomorrow. Also, quick tip from my experience when they fix it, make sure they check the wiring harness thoroughly, not just the sensor itself. In my case, they initially just wanted to replace the sensor, but the real problem was in the wiring. Keep us posted on what you find out with the scanner! The symptoms are so similar to what I dealt with, I'd bet we're looking at the same issue.

Thanks so much for all the detailed info! Just got the codes from my 's scanner and what do you know, it's showing P0335 just like yours did. it's actually a relief to hear someone else went through the exact same thing and got it sorted without too much drama. I'll definitely take your advice about getting them to check the whole wiring harness. Already called a local shop that specializes in Infinitis and booked it in for tomorrow morning. They quoted me roughly 200 Euro for the worst-case scenario, which isn't as bad as I was fearing. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience saved me a lot of worry and probably some cash too! I'll update the thread once it's fixed in case anyone else runs into the same problem with these cars. Cheers!
