Barchetta Audio System Failure
Summary of the thread
The 2003 Fiat Barchetta's audio system is completely non-functional, with dashboard controls unresponsive and fuses intact, but an error memory indicating an audio system error. Despite the display appearing normal, it was identified as defective, causing the entire system to fail. The suggested solution was to have the system checked by a workshop, which confirmed the display issue and led to its repair.

The display is integrated into the radio unit. Apart from the radio not working, the display looks normal. Does that rule out a defective display, or could it still be the culprit? I'm not seeing any flickering.

A seemingly normal display makes it less obvious, but not impossible. My faulty display screwed with the whole system, even though it looked fine most of the time. Since you've got an error code and the whole thing's dead, I'd suggest getting it checked by a workshop. Could be an internal failure in the head unit itself.

I took it to a local shop, and you were spot on! The display was indeed defective, causing the whole system to shut down. Repair cost me 725€.

Sounds frustrating. My old Saab 9-3 had a similar issue. The radio died, but sometimes worked when it was hotter. My display was defective. Is your display acting weird?
