Can you elaborate on what I should be looking for around the water pump? Are there any particular signs or indicators? Also, what's the recommended procedure for removing air pockets in this vehicle?

Around the water pump, look for any signs of dried coolant – a crusty, often pink or orange residue. If you see that, it’s likely leaking. As for bleeding air, it can be tricky. Honestly, if you're not super confident, it might be best to have a workshop do it. They have the right tools and know-how to get it done properly.

I took the Berlingo to a certified mechanic, as you suggested. It turned out to be a minor leak in a hose connected to the coolant reservoir. The total cost for the repair, including parts and labor, amounted to 52€.

Low coolant in a Berlingo? Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with mine. Have you checked around the water pump? Also, are you sure there aren't any air pockets in the system? Those can cause the coolant level to fluctuate and trigger the light.
