Berlingo Emissions Test Failure

Help! My 2006 Citroen Berlingo (gasoline engine) is failing the emissions test. The speedometer is showing an error message, and the error memory has a stored fault. Mileage is 72880 km. I recently used an OBD2 scanner – could that be the cause?

I had something similar with my Berlingo. Seems like the OBD2 read might have reset your system readiness. It needs to complete a drive cycle to reset everything for the emissions test.

A drive cycle? What does that even mean? Is it something I can do myself, or will I have to bite the bullet and take it to a mechanic?

Yep, it's annoying! Basically, the car needs to run through all its diagnostic checks. There are specific driving patterns, but honestly, they're a pain. I'd suggest just driving normally for a bit. If it doesn't clear after a few days, a workshop can force the readiness.

Thanks! Turns out you were spot on. After about a week of normal driving, the error cleared itself. Got the emissions test done today, and it passed! No repair cost at all.
