Berlingo engine control malfunction

Interesting, thanks! Battery connections? I assumed the battery was fine since the lights and radio work. But maybe it's not delivering enough juice for the starter motor? How exactly did you diagnose that on your Astra? Was it obvious corrosion, or something more subtle?

Well, the lights and radio don't draw as much power as the starter motor. My Astra had some subtle corrosion on the negative terminal. It looked clean-ish at first glance, but after cleaning it up with a wire brush, the car started right away! If cleaning doesn't solve it, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop for proper engine diagnostics. They can check for fault codes and maybe refresh the engine software if needed.

You were spot on! Cleaning the battery cable connections fixed it. Turns out they weren't good. Cost me 155€ at the shop to get it sorted. Thanks for the tip!

I had a similar issue with my old Opel Astra. Same symptoms – engine wouldn't start and got some weird error codes. Have you checked the battery cable connections? A loose or corroded connection can cause electrical gremlins. The engine control unit (ECU) might not be getting enough power to start the engine. Worth a look!
