Berlingo NOx Sensor Cable Issue

My 2005 Citroen Berlingo with a gasoline engine has the check engine light on. The mechanic found a NOx sensor error and suspects a defective cable. I also smell exhaust fumes more than usual. Any ideas?

That sounds familiar! I had almost the same thing happen with my Berlingo. Check engine light city! Though it's hard to tell for me about the smell, as I am not very sensitive. Was the mechanic able to pinpoint the exact issue other than a vague 'defective cable'?

He was pretty sure it was the cable or plug connection to the NOx sensor, but he didn't spend too long looking. How did you fix yours? Was it expensive?

In my case, the final diagnosis was exactly what your mechanic pointed out: cable connection issues. Sadly, I'm not skilled enough and went to the workshop for that, because I don't have the tools and knowledge about the exhaust system. I'd also recommend seeing a professional, especially with the exhaust fumes you mentioned. Better safe than sorry!

I took it to another workshop, and it was indeed the connection. Cost me around 95€, but at least it's sorted!
