Good shout on the connector! I'll give that a look. When you say corrosion, was it obvious, or did you need a magnifying glass to spot it? Also, did the Volvo throw any other weird codes along with the level sensor error?

The corrosion was pretty visible once I got the connector off; greenish gunk on the pins. No other codes popped up, just the coolant level sensor fault. Honestly, after cleaning it and applying some dielectric grease, it was fine for a while, but the error came back after a couple of weeks. I just ended up taking it to a workshop to replace the sensor, hopefully yours is only the cable, otherwise I would consider going to the workshop.

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience! I checked the connector as you suggested, and you were spot on – corrosion everywhere! Cleaned it up, applied some contact cleaner, and it seems to have done the trick… for now. I cleared the error codes, and the warning lights are gone. If it pops up again, I'll get the sensor replaced. According to the invoice I had to pay 95€ to get it fixed, so I will go to the workshop. I appreciate the help!

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue on my old Volvo V70, though it was a coolant level sensor. Same symptoms – error message, warning lights. It turned out to be corrosion on the connector. Have you checked the connector pins for any signs of oxidation or damage? A bit of contact cleaner might do the trick.
