Berlingo oil temperature sensor fault
Summary of the thread
A 2002 Citroen Berlingo owner experienced issues with the engine oil temperature sensor, indicated by a warning light and error memory. The problem was suspected to be a faulty cable or plug connection to the sensor. After a thorough diagnostic, it was confirmed that the connection was the issue, and securing the wiring resolved the problem.

Good shout! I did give the connector a once-over, but perhaps not thoroughly enough. When you had this issue, did the fault manifest intermittently, or was it a constant error? And, did the diagnostics specifically point to the oil temperature sensor, or was it more of a general 'engine sensor' type code?

In my case, the fault was intermittent at first, then became more frequent over time. The diagnostics were fairly specific, identifying the oil temperature sensor as the culprit. Given the combined warnings, and the fact you've already suspected the wiring, I'd still recommend having a workshop take a look before replacing parts. Could save you some money and aggravation in the long run.

Thanks for the insights! I took your advice and had a proper diagnostic done at the shop. You were spot on – it was indeed the connection to the oil temperature sensor. They cleaned everything up and secured the wiring properly. Cost me 95€, but at least it's sorted. Much appreciated!

Interesting. I've got a Berlingo myself, though I can't recall the exact year. Your symptoms sound awfully familiar. Before throwing parts at it, have you thoroughly checked the wiring harness leading to the oil temperature sensor? Are you absolutely sure there isn't any corrosion or damage to the connector itself? Seems odd to have both temperature and pressure warnings simultaneously.
