Berlingo radar sensor fault

I'm getting an error message and warning light on my 2003 Citroen Berlingo diesel, with an error stored related to the radar sensor. It's impacting various systems. Could a dirty sensor be the problem, and how can I resolve it?

Radar issues on those older Berlingos are a pain! Is it completely dead, or intermittent? You'll get all sorts of system failures flagged if the radar's chucking a wobbly. Collision avoidance goes offline, traction control might complain... Have you checked the sensor itself for physical damage or if it's caked in muck?

The system seems completely non-functional. How do I check the sensor? I'm not very experienced. Where is it located, and what should I be looking for?

Right, so it's properly dead. The radar sensor is usually behind the front bumper, often near the lower grille. You're looking for a smallish unit, probably plastic. Check the connector is seated properly and isn't corroded. Give the sensor itself a good clean. If that doesn't fix it, it may need recalibration or replacement. Honestly, without proper diagnostic tools, you're better off taking it to a workshop.

I followed your suggestions and located the sensor, cleaned it, and secured the connector. The issue persisted, so I took it to a workshop. They confirmed a faulty sensor connection due to dirt, cleaned the connector, and charged me 45€. Everything is now working.
