Berlingo Wiper Failure

My 2008 Citroen Berlingo with a gasoline engine (231028 km) has a problem: the windshield wipers have stopped working. Diagnostics show an error. I suspect a bad cable or plug in the wiper system. I've checked the steering column and wiper motor, but see nothing obvious. The turn signal and rain sensor work fine. Any ideas?

I had a similar problem on my Berlingo. Sounds like a bad connection. Have you checked the connector block behind the steering wheel, where the wiper stalk plugs in? Common issue, the contacts corrode or work loose. Also, did you check the ground connection to the wiper motor? A poor ground can cause electrical issues.

Thanks for the quick reply. Could you tell me exactly where to find the connector block and ground connection? I want to make sure I'm looking at the right parts. Did you have the same symptoms I described?

Yes, my symptoms were identical – wipers completely dead, error code stored. The connector block is directly behind the steering wheel, you need to remove the plastic shroud to get to it. The ground is usually bolted to the bodywork near the wiper motor. Honestly, it's probably best left to a workshop; messing with the electrics on the steering column can be risky if you're not familiar.

Thanks for confirming. Given the risks, I'm taking it to a workshop. The repair cost 95€. Thanks again for the help.
