Bipper Automatic Transmission Problem

My 2014 Peugeot Bipper diesel with 271332 km has automatic transmission issues. It sometimes won't start, the check engine light is on, and the gearbox is slipping. It seems to think 'Park' is optional. I got an error code if that helps. Any ideas? I've had similar issues with Renaults.

Given the symptoms you describe, encompassing starting difficulties, warning lights, erratic shifting, and a stored error code, a defective control unit affecting the automatic transmission's park function is a distinct possibility. Could you retrieve the specific error code? This would enable a more precise initial diagnosis.

I pulled the code - it's P1759. Does that shed any more light? I was thinking it might be something simple, like a dodgy sensor, but the more I read, the more worried I get!

Error code P1759 indeed points towards a malfunction within the automatic transmission system, potentially related to the park/neutral position. Considering the symptoms and the fault code, I would advise consulting a qualified workshop equipped to diagnose and repair automatic transmissions. Continuing to operate the vehicle risks exacerbating the problem, potentially leading to more extensive and costly repairs. It appears the control unit is indeed defective, and the expected repair costs are about 1000€.

Thanks for the advice. Looks like a trip to the garage is unavoidable. At least I have some idea of what to expect. Transmission control unit it is. I appreciate the help!
