Bipper Cruise Control Fault

Good shout on the brake light switch – I hadn't considered that one. I did have the steering wheel off a few weeks back to replace the clock spring after the airbag light came on. I was extremely careful during reassembly, but I suppose it's possible I disturbed something. Do you reckon the clock spring could be related, even if the airbag light is no longer illuminated? The error is constant; it appears every time I try to engage the cruise control.

Right, the clock spring replacement is definitely something to consider given the timing. Even if the airbag light is off now, a slightly misaligned or damaged clock spring can absolutely interfere with the cruise control signals. The cruise control and airbag systems often share wiring or rely on the same sensors within the steering column. The fact that the error is constant also points to a more fundamental issue. I'd suggest revisiting that clock spring installation very carefully. If you are not comfortable doing that, then a workshop visit is probably unavoidable. At least you can tell them where you suspect the fault lies.

Thanks for the insights, particularly regarding the clock spring and its potential connection to the cruise control. I carefully re-seated the clock spring connector and surrounding wiring to be sure. After that I cleared the error code and the cruise control is now working. If I have to visit the workshop for a deeper dive, I'll share the outcome. Estimated repair cost, according to the mechanic, is 95€.

I hear you on avoiding the workshop! Cruise control issues can be a proper pain. The error message in the speedometer is definitely a key clue. Before you tear into the wiring harness, have you checked the brake light switch? A faulty brake light switch can sometimes disable the cruise control as a safety measure, even if the brake lights themselves are working fine. Also, any recent work done near the steering wheel or column? A dodgy connection there could also explain it. Is the error intermittent, or is it constant?
