Bipper DPF Regeneration Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Peugeot Bipper diesel exhibited a warning light and excessive smoke during acceleration, with diagnostics indicating a DPF regeneration issue. The problem was suspected to be caused by a faulty exhaust back pressure sensor. After replacing the sensor, the issues were resolved, with the warning light turning off and the DPF regenerating properly.

Thanks for the reply! I haven't replaced the exhaust back pressure sensor, and I'm not sure if it's ever been done. Is there a way to test it, or am I better off just replacing it?

Testing it is tricky without the right equipment. Given the symptoms and the age of your Bipper, it probably is the sensor. I replaced mine and it solved the problem. Unless you have experience with auto electrics, I'd recommend going to a workshop. Save yourself the headache.

Thanks for the advice! Took your suggestion and brought it to a local mechanic. Turns out the exhaust back pressure sensor was indeed defective. Replaced it for 245€ and the issues are gone. No more smoke, the warning light is off, and the DPF is regenerating again.

Hey, I had similar issues with my Peugeot Partner. Same engine, I reckon. Warning light, smoke... DPF regeneration impossible. Have you checked the exhaust back pressure sensor? Seems like a likely culprit. When was it last replaced, if ever?
