Bipper fuel level sensor fault

Check engine light on my 2015 Peugeot Bipper diesel keeps coming on, and the engine occasionally stalls when idling. I've scanned the error memory and it's showing a fuel level sensor fault. I've checked the fuses, but I am not sure if my car even has one for this sensor, and haven't been able to find any information online. Anyone encountered a similar problem, or could offer advice?

Summary of the thread

The conversation revolves around a 2015 Peugeot Bipper diesel with a persistent check engine light and occasional stalling when idling, linked to a fuel level sensor fault. The issue could stem from a faulty sensor, which, despite the fuel gauge reading correctly, might still cause engine stalling due to its role in managing fuel mixture. The suggested solution is to have the sensor professionally diagnosed and replaced, which was successfully done, resolving the problem.

That sounds like a pain! I had something similar with my old car (different make), and the fuel gauge was all over the place before the check engine light even came on. It could be the sensor itself is faulty. Fuel level sensors basically measure the amount of fuel in the tank and send that info to the fuel gauge and the car's computer. Is your fuel gauge acting weird at all? Like fluctuating a lot, or showing the wrong amount?

The fuel gauge seems normal, consistently indicating the correct level. Knowing that the sensor might be faulty, could it really cause the engine to stall? Also, how difficult is it to replace the fuel level sensor, or would it be better to leave it to professionals?

Okay, consistent fuel gauge reading is interesting, but doesn't totally rule out the sensor because it could still have an intermittent fault only the computer detects! And yes, a faulty fuel level sensor CAN make the engine stall because modern cars rely on that info to help manage fuel mixture. Now, replacing the sensor...it can be a DIY job, but it involves accessing the fuel tank, which can be a bit messy and potentially dangerous. Honestly, given the stalling and the consistent error code, you might save yourself some headache by taking it to a workshop. They can diagnose it properly and replace the sensor safely.

I appreciate the input; your advice proved extremely helpful. I took it to the workshop; indeed, it was a faulty fuel level sensor, and they sorted it out quickly. It came down to a defective sensor with a replacement cost of 52€ including labor. Thanks again for the help!
